It will be substantially cooler than 100 or 105 degrees in the coming days, where inland Oregon and Washington will see such temps starting today (Sunday) through Wednesday, but it won't always be “cool.” In fact, just a few miles from the shorelines will leave you well into the 90s in many cases.

There are heat advisories in effect until late Monday for the majority of the Washington coast, the upper third of the Oregon coast and parts of the south Oregon coast, as well as the Oregon Coast Range. The northern edges of the Washington coast are in a excessive heat watch that overlaps the heat advisory, extending into late Monday night.

“Temperatures 85 to 95, with warmest temperatures just inland away from the beaches,” said the National Weather Service (NWS), which issued the advisories and watches.

A heat advisory is in effect until 8 p.m. Monday night for much Tillamook County, all of Clatsop County, and Washington coast areas Raymond, Long Beach, Ocean Park, Naselle, Cathlamet, and Cape Disappointment.

Along southern Oregon's Curry Coast and Douglas County, an excessive heat warning is in effect through Thursday, with eastern parts of the counties hitting well above 110 and overnight temperatures not cooling below 65. However, the beach areas like Reedsport or Bandon are not predicted to get hit that hard, although high temps in the upper 80s are possible, as well as further south towards Brookings.

Along the central and north Oregon coast, as well as south Washington coast, high temps will often be in the 70s and occasionally 80s as the inland areas bake in 100-degree heat. Overnight lows will be in the lower 60s in many beach areas, which is higher than usual.

Be advised most hotels and vacation rentals on the Oregon coast do not have air conditioning and often they don't have fans. You may consider bringing your own fan.

Be especially wary of sunny, warm beaches: your chances of sunburn are greatly increased near the water. The ocean reflects the light back on you. That sunscreen you never use on the coast? You're going to need it now. Bad.
