(Oregon Coast) - Two major traffic routes along the Oregon coast will get some partial closures over the next few days, including one section near Neskowin that was briefly blocked by a tree that fell because of last week's big snow event. (Photo ODOT)

The other closure will affect traffic in and out of Astoria, at the northern tip of the Oregon coast.

Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) announced the one-lane shut downs this week.

Several miles north of Lincoln City, near Neskowin, one lane of Highway 101 will be closed as ODOT crews work on tree removal. The area from milepost 98 to milepost 105 will see one lane closed down beginning March 6, ODOT said.

Work will be conducted from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. During the closure two travel lanes will still remain open. ODOT said to expect minor delays.

Crews will be removing more trees that are in danger of falling on the highway. Work there is weather dependent, so the project could wind up elongated if there are enough weather-related halts in the schedule.

A large number of trees fell during late February's snow storm, blocking the highway near Neskowin and other areas. Hundreds of trees along the central Oregon coast came down due to snow and wind.

Near Neskowin, the road from milepost 96 to 105 was shut down. Along OR 229, the Siletz Highway, milepost 5 through 19 had been closed for a time. The Alsea River Highway (OR 34) near Waldport was closed for a couple of days from milepost 5 through 28.

ODOT cautioned that drivers should slow down for highway workers. Hotels in Lincoln City/ Neskowin - Where to eat - Lincoln City Maps and Virtual Tours

At Astoria, the New Youngs Bay Bridge on Highway 101 will be closed on the nights of March 5 and 6 (Sunday and Monday night) for maintenance of the drawbridge cables.

Travelers on this part of the Oregon coast will find northbound and southbound Highway 101 closed between 9 a.m. and 6 a.m. on both those nights. Both are expected to open up again on Tuesday morning, March 7.

Both northbound and southbound U.S. 101 will be closed at the bridge between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. Sunday and Monday nights, with reopening expected Tuesday morning, March 7.

“This closure is necessary for drawbridge cable maintenance, routine repairs and inspection,” ODOT said.

Detours will be available along Highway 101B (Marine Dr.) while the Youngs Bay Bridge is closed.

For commercial vehicles there are weight restrictions on the detour.

“Motor carriers may need to reschedule or use an approved alternate route. Details for motor carriers are at Oregon Trucking Online Restrictions List,” ODOT said. MORE PHOTOS BELOW
