Tiny Central Oregon Coast Town Holds Another Art, Oysters and Brews Aug. 5

(Toledo, Oregon) – Hoping to find more art, more oysters and more brews on the Oregon coast? Ever wondered what all that would be like in one spot?

A few miles inland from the beaches of Newport comes the latest installment of Art, Oysters & Brews in Toledo, happening on Saturday, August 5. This time around, the little off-the-beaten-path central Oregon coast burgh is making a special presentation of the newest community mural, a giant art piece commemorating Toledo artist Michael Gibbons. His legacy runs deep through the town, and the mural created by local artist Casey McEneny looks at the man who helped put the place on the map as a kind of art haven.

“The mural aims to pay homage to Michael Gibbons' artistic legacy and further enrich Toledo's vibrant artistic community,” said organizers.

It's the third summer for Art, Oysters & Brews events, and the ART Toledo committee is gearing up to continue this dynamic community festival, bringing together residents and visitors alike for a day of artistic celebration on Main Street in Toledo.

This August 5 will be the second installment of the three-part summer series. From noon to 5 p.m., the streets of Toledo will come alive with an array of activities and attractions, all set to the backdrop of beautiful art, cold local beers, and delish food vendors offering fresh Oregon oysters and more.

At the center will be the unveiling of the Michael Gibbons mural. He left an unforgettable mark through his “extraordinary talent and dedication to his craft,” say organizers. “The mural's creation serves as a testament to his artistic legacy and will serve as a source of inspiration for generations to come.”

The presentation is set to begin at 1:30 p.m. on August 5th in front of the mural, located across from City Hall on Main Street. The Yaquina River Museum of Art will be hosting a reception following the presentation at their 1887 Schoolhouse located at 151 NE Alder Street, with complimentary cake and champagne to
celebrate.

On top of the mural event, Art, Oysters & Brews will feature a variety of other artists from the Oregon coast and elsewhere, showcasing a diverse and unique set of inspirations and pieces. It gives visitors a chance to explore local creativity.

Youngsters will have the chance to channel their inner artists by participating in a special community mural project that will be displayed on Main Street all year. A Lincoln County 4H petting zoo will add some extra fun and cuteness to the event, and the Toledo Library will have an engaging kids activity area. Attendees can groove to the rhythm of live music throughout the day, with performances by musicians Tyler Spencer, Dave Cowden, and the band Revel'n.

The Art, Oysters & Brews event is open to all and admission is free. It all happens on Main Street on that Saturday.
