(Newport, Oregon) – Once again, a fun and much-loved event returns to the central Oregon coast as the region starts pulling out of the pandemic. Look to the waters just east of Newport for Toledo's 17th Annual Wooden Boat Show happens on August 20 and 21. It's free, it's family-friendly and it celebrates the longstanding maritime heritage of the tiny town just east of Newport. The festival hosts the GP Containerboard Boat Contest, boat building, live music, kids’ activities, food, boat rides, vendors and more. (Courtesy photo)
You'll find all the fun at the Port of Toledo's Marina and Waterfront Park at 127 NW A Street, Toledo. Hours are Saturday, August 20, from 10 am to 6:30 pm and Sunday, August 21, 10 am to 5 pm.
Both days feature a full live music schedule. Get down 'n gritty with Portland bluesman Lloyd Jones headlining on Saturday, while David Jacobs-Strain takes the spotlight on Sunday.
This year's poster for the central Oregon coast event is another collectible, featuring the iconic image of David West sailing Yuan Mun, one of the Port’s Teak Ladies. Individual Wooden Boat Show posters or a full set of posters will be available to purchase at the Port’s booth at the Wooden Boat Show.

A big Oregon coast local favorite, Sons of the Beaches, will perform folk, classics & originals followed by the Sonny Hess Band with Lady Kat wrapping up Saturday playing Rhythm & Blues. These two powerful women are returning to the Wooden Boat Show with their own style of funk, soul, and rhythm & blues.
Sunday’s schedule has local group Weird Science playing '80s through modern rock’ n roll followed by Lyle Ronglien, solo acoustic guitarist. David Jacobs-Strain will take the stage at 1:40 in the afternoon performing roots and blues. David Jacobs-Strain is a renowned slide blues guitarist and a local Oregon coast favorite at blues festivals playing original compositions.
