(Coos Bay, Oregon) – Double your fun on the south coast.

Two huge events on the southern Oregon coast are coming up soon, with one brand, spanking new one about to set a new precedent. The 1st Annual High Tide Tattoo and Arts Festival happens this weekend at North Bend's Mill Casino (April 28 to 30), and then a month later the casino also features the BBQ, Blues & Brews on the Bay for Memorial Weekend (May 27 and 28). It's likely that when you think of getting a tattoo, the Oregon coast isn't something that comes to mind. The Coos Bay-area casino hopes to change that with the 1st Annual High Tide Tattoo and Arts Festival, where it teams up with North Bend's 11:11 Tattoo Studio and Ragemore Events (which has put on some interesting Halloween gigs and zombie festivals), bringing some top tattoo artists to the south Oregon coast and a weekend of engaging art.

Three days of artists both national and local artists as well as tattooing on-site will be the focus. So, if you've ever considered some skin art, then coupling that with a couple of days at the beach may well be your thing. Traditional, black and white or full colors – all kinds of artists will be there to bring your visions to life.

There will also be some artists seen on Paramount Network's Ink Master show.

“Guests will have the rare opportunity to work with these artists directly to plan their next tattoo,” the casino said.

Some of those featured in this new festival: Brandon Davenport (Multi award-winning artist), Bony Tony (Multi award-winning artist), and Mat Valles (Former Ink Master contender), along with James Mullin, Chad Hayden, Jamy Carlton, Thomas Sweet, A.J. Jamrose, Carlos Lemon and Dustin Mathis. Well-known businesses Oregon City Tattoos, Legacy Ink, 11:11 Tattoo and Old School Tattoo are a part as well.

If you're interested in booking a session, you'll have to utilize the artists' social media pages. Few of them will allow walk-ins, the casino said.

Schedule on Friday: 4 PM – 10 PM. On Saturday it runs from 12 PM – 10 PM. On Sunday it's noon through 10 PM. Tickets are $10 per day. Those 12 and under are free.

For the Memorial Weekend event, the Annual BBQ, Blues & Brews on the Bay continues to grow in size and attendance, with this year featuring 17 competitors from around the West Coast in the barbecue competition. A sizable roster of bands and as much food as the eye can see populate this Oregon coast favorite, which was finally able to fully resume last year.

More on that event soon in Oregon Coast Beach Connection.
