Open Weekends: Coastal Tuscan Tasting Room, Newport. A kind of mini-wine bar and wine shop. It's called the Coastal Tuscan Tasting Room, featuring a small selection of wines in a lovely Oregon coast setting – right off Highway 101, near the Yaquina Bay Bridge in its historic Deco District. The tasting room will feature four to five wines for tasting from boutique and favorite wineries, which will change each month. October 18. Octopus Day. A day of “Octo-centric” activities. At 1 p.m.: feeding the resident red octopus (Octopus rubescens). Do you know the differences between a squid and an octopus? Dr. Hanshumaker is conducting a side-by-side dissection of a giant Pacific octopus (Enteroctopus dofleini) and a large clubhook squid (Moroteuthis robusta) at 1:30. There will be octopus and other cephalopod videos shown continuously in the Hennings Auditorium. The winners of the coloring contest will receive the beaks from the octopus and squid.
