(Newport, Oregon) – From the two hotspots of the central Oregon coast – Depoe Bay and Newport – to the tiny burgh of Toledo to the east, a lot takes place there in the fall. October and November have a large helping of happenings in the area, with much of it in the realms of finer culture.

Here is but a sampling of major highlights:

October 19. Guided Naturalist Walk: Exploring Hatfield and the South Jetty. The one-mile nature trail around Yaquina Bay. Look for ducks, songbirds and any shorebirds that remain. 9 a.m. Free. OSU Lincoln County Extension. 1211 SE Bay Boulevard. Newport, Oregon. (541) 574-6534.

October 31. Rocky Horror Picture Show - Almost Live! Get ready to plunge into the ‘time warp' when they celebrate David Ogden Stiers' birthday with The Rocky Horror Picture Show.
