(Portland, Oregon) – What’s new in the travel world? This week, at Oregon Coast Beach Connection’s sister site OregonTravelDaily.com, much is ado about traveling around the world and in Oregon, with some items of particular interest to foodies in the Portland area. Eastern and Oriental Express Start Journeys to SE Asia This November, Orient-Express is introducing the Chronicles of Southeast Asia The Eastern & Oriental Express (E & O) has long offered travelers the opportunity to experience the Golden Age of train travel through one of the world's most beautiful and exotic regions. This November, Orient-Express is introducing the Chronicles of Southeast Asia - four new journeys that enable guests on the E & O to experience the region in even greater depth. The new itineraries will take passengers in comfort to places off the beaten track and essentially turn the train into a touring hotel - a window onto the world of Southeast Asia. To ensure ultimate exclusivity and a more personalized experience, capacity on each trip will be limited to 60 guests and only presidential and state carriages will be in use. A whole bundle of special packages and destinations are available. More here.... Traffic Restrictions and Changes for Albany, Oregon Coast Problems near Florence and changes in lanes in Albany. A traffic obstruction near Florence should be taken care of already. ODOT discovered a void beneath chunks of Highway 101 just north of Sea Lion Caves, resulting in a lane closure. Meanwhile, in Albany, ODOT is alerted Albany motorists to be aware of a change in traffic patterns along Pacific Blvd (OR 99E) between Madison Street and the bridge over the Standard Pacific Railroad tracks. A federally funded, $620,000 improvement project is almost complete and crews will began striping the new travel lanes this past week. Drivers will be now in the left and middle lanes on Pacific Blvd. from Madison Street to the SPRR overpass and use the right lane for a right turn onto the Jackson Street ramp. This new traffic pattern will utilize the right and middle lanes as through lanes. The left lane will merge into the middle lane and there will be a new right exit lane for turning onto the Jackson Street ramp. More here... SW Portland Eatery Finds Delicious Ways to Cool Off The heatwave hitting Portland and northwest Oregon is only providing inspiration for one tiny eatery in the Beaverton area. Canyon Grille, On SW Canyon Road, in the “auto row” district, is digging into local gardens to cool the heated palates of those in the Raleigh Hills/West Slope area with a bundle of fresh fruits turned into refreshing liquids. Among the new offerings are their fresh lemonades or the strawberry lemonade, in which you’ll find large chunks of real strawberries gracing the bottom of your glass. Served in a pint glass, the strawberry concoction is an especially enticing thirst quencher, with a minimum of the sugar overkill that usually comes with such drinks, and lots of that real and natural sugar vibe. There’s more in the story about their fabulous milkshakes made from real fruit, and about the secret that this section of Portland can’t keep, like their amazing breakfasts.
