Memorial Weekend Events on Oregon Coast
(Oregon Coast) – The big weekend is often the kickoff to the summer season, and that also means a bevy of events to snag the attention of the masses heading to the beaches.
Historic train rides, a blues fest, freaky fun at the Oregon Coast Aquarium, and learning how to eat stuff off the beaches are just part of the events filling the calendar of the region that weekend.

May 29. 29th Annual Memorial Weekend Blues Festival, featuring Bond Street Blues Band and Norman Sylvester Band. Barbecue features chicken, pulled pork, red beans and rice, and salads. Music begins at 5 p.m. and cover is $5. Beer, wine and dinner are available for purchase. May 29 (Memorial Day Weekend). Sea Lion Encounter. Learn about the Aquarium’s pinnipeds, get a sea lion kiss and explore behind the scenes at the aquarium. May 29. Swampland opens at Oregon Coast Aquarium. Snakes, frogs, an alligator and fish have been arriving and are being acclimated to their new environment. Opening festivities over the three day Memorial Day weekend will include a performances and interactive games from Radio Disney, “creature features” with live animals, dive presentations, face painting, free giveaways and a children’s craft handout. The summer season officially gets underway on opening day of Swampland as the Aquarium expands its hours from 9 am to 6 pm daily through Labor Day weekend. Oregon Coast Aquarium.
