(Seaside, Oregon) – Seaside is looking to the future with plans for a new park along its river. But meanwhile, many in the town will be kicking back and having a few brews with visitors with a new beer festival in early March.
The Seaside Chamber of Commerce, in cooperation with the Oregon Brewers Guild, will host “Beach Bite & Brew,” a craft beer tasting event at the Seaside Elks Lodge in Seaside on March 6.
The tasting will feature two parts. The first is a VIP event limited to 50 people from noon to 4 p.m. and featuring four Seaside Chefs who will compete in a “People’s Choice Cooking with Beer Contest.” General admission will be open from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. for tasting and the opportunity to purchase a variety of local food specialties. Entertainment will be presented at both sessions.
Expected to become an annual event, the showcase will feature dishes paired with Oregon craft beer.
Admission to the VIP Taste is $35.00 and includes both sessions. The cost is $20 for the evening taste. Both admissions include a souvenir glass.
Brian Butenschoen, Executive Director of the Oregon Brewers Guild commented, said the group is excited to be doing a tasting in Seaside. “
"It is a wonderful opportunity to demonstrate on the North Coast the pairing of excellent food with Oregon’s craft beers,” Butenschoen said. “The associated area amenities make it a complete experience.”
The Elks is at 325 Avenue A, Seaside, Oregon. For additional information and for reservations for the VIP Taste contact the Seaside Chamber events@seasidechamber.com or 503-738-6391.
The City of Seaside and the design firm of Jones and Jones is seeking input on a new park as yet to be built. They are holding the Necanicum Estuary Natural History Park Open House on Thursday, March 11, at the Bob Chisholm Community Center, from 5 to 8 p.m.
The public is invited to come and participate in the visioning process for the Necanicum Estuary Natural History Park. Representatives from the design team of Jones and Jones, along with members of the parks committee and other stakeholders will be on hand to answer question, take your input and ideas, and show you the first concepts that have been put together for what residents view as an incredible project.
The Community Center is located at 1225 Avenue A in Seaside, Oregon. Call Public Works at 503-738-5112 for more information.
