E-Tickets On Sale for Big Oregon Coast Seafood Wine Fest
(Newport, Oregon) - Advanced online tickets are now available for the Newport Seafood & Wine Festival, happening February 26, 27, and 28, 2010 – adjacent to the Rogue Ales Warehouse, 2320 OSU Drive, just south of downtown Newport.
This enables visitors to use the special "e-ticket" line at the entrance of the festival: www.newportchamber.org. Prices for e-tickets are the same as gate entry, but with a handling fee.
Advance group tickets are also on sale, allowing larger groups a special entrance. Groups of 15 or more can call the Chamber office (800-262-7844).
Festival Hours and Gate Prices are:
Friday, February 26, 2 p.m. to 9 p.m., $10 ticket price.
Saturday, February 27, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., $15 ticket price.
Sunday, February 28, 10 am to 4 pm, $5 ticket price.
The Newport chamber said that ticket prices do to reflect a handling fee.
The last weekend of every February, the central coast resort town of Newport swells with well over 17,000 visitors coming to the festival for a weekend of wine, wonders in the culinary world, seafood and arts & crafts. 34 food vendors, 29 crafters and 78 wineries will be found at this enormous festival. A large variety of craft items will be sold, from articles of clothing, jewelry, art glass, metal sculptures, works of art and hand-painted ceramics to handcrafted wine accessories.
This time around, the Newport Seafood & Wine Festival celebrates its 33rd year.
Be sure to book lodging early: there is still some availability at this time, but lodging will fill as the event draws closer.
You must be 21 years or older to attend this event. You must also show valid picture ID or you will not be able to enter the event. The site is handicapped accessible and smoke free, with a special outdoor smoking area. Parking at the facility is $5. Shuttle buses will run for free from Newport, and a shuttle schedule and map will be available on the chamber's website as well as the chamber center: 800-262-7844 or visit www.newportchamber.org.

Saturday evening FisherPoets main event: Featured author readings at the Oregon Coast Aquarium, 2820 SE Ferry Slip Road, in the South Beach area of Newport, 7 to 10 p.m. Jon Broderick, Jay Speakman, Moe Bowstern, Dave Densmore, Geno Leech, Gene “Red Hawk” Davenport and Clem Starck.
Fisherman/singer/songwriters Jim and Julz Kaisner will perform in the Aquarium lobby at the start of the show. Attendees have access to all Aquarium exhibits. Food and libations by Local Ocean. Sunday morning Open Mic and Hearty Brunch Buffet at the Yaquina Bay Yacht Club, 750 SE Bay Boulevard, Newport, 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Emcee: fisherman/poet Bob Elder. Food and libations by Cafe Mundo. The open mic of poetry, song, and storytelling invites all commercial, recreational, sport anglers and fly fishermen and women, all people who fish, people married to people who fish, charter fishing owners and crew, Coast Guard, Port Commissioners and staff, people who study fish, people who make art from fish, people who eat fish, surfers, and high school students. Five minute limit. Free admission, but brunch buffet costs $10.
