Oregon Coast Lodging Availability for Seafood
Wine and Birding Weekend
(Newport,
Oregon) – All of the central Oregon coast will be hopping this weekend
between the frenetic activity of the Newport Seafood & Wine Festival
and the Birding and Blues Festival in Pacific City. The two towns are
a good hour’s drive from each other, but both festivals are bringing
in so many people that neighboring towns are getting filled up with the
overload.
The vast majority of Newport hotels, motels, B&B’s
vacation rentals and inn’s are reporting 100 percent occupancy so
far – or expected to be maxed out – for this weekend that
turns a town of 10,000 into a city of 30,000. Depoe Bay, about 20 minutes
away, has not reported any openings to BeachConnection.net, and it typically
takes much of the spillover from Newport.

Yachats, about 30 minutes south of Newport, also frequently
takes many who can’t find rooms in Waldport or Newport. Yachats
has reported a few openings still.
Lincoln City sits in the middle of it all, about a half
hour drive to either Pacific City or Newport. The town usually takes a
good deal of overnighters from the Seafood & Wine Festival. Since
the Birding & Blues Festival has greatly increased in size in recent
years, it is expected to completely fill up not only Pacific City but
Neskowin and many rooms in Lincoln City as well.

Pacific City goes to the birds this weekend |
Still, two places in Pacific City reported some openings.
BeachConnection.net contacted most lodgings in Pacific City,
Lincoln City, Depoe Bay, Newport, Waldport and Yachats and received vacancy
reports from a few. Mostly, Lincoln City has the openings, which comes
in handy since it will likely get crowds from two cities’ celebrations.
Make sure you call these lodgings ahead of time to double
check their availability, as conditions will change quickly.

and Blues click here; for more on Newport
