Birding and Blues Festival Rocks Oregon Coast This Weekend

(Pacific City, Oregon) – It is just as it says: a festival about birds and blues music.

“Perhaps you know why birding is one of Oregon’s most popular outdoor activities (just behind gardening),” says the event’s website. “So what would be more natural than to gather wildlife lovers like you for a most unique, stimulating, and fun nature festival?”

The festival takes place this weekend, Friday, February 23, Saturday February 24 and Sunday, February 25th, in Pacific City.

February actually sits at the front door of the migratory season, when birders ready themselves for the seasonal show. The weather begins turning to more spring-like days and the birds are become livelier.

The massive event celebrates that, featuring an interesting mix of guided field trips, seminars, workshops, all kinds of nature displays and events, as well as a food court – and of course, plenty of live blues music by some of the northwest’s biggest and brightest.

There are live birds on display, boat trips, lectures, a writers roundtable, and field trips that take you to Neskowin, Cape Kiwanda, Tillamook Bay and a variety of other places.

A schedule roundup includes:

18 guided field trips to 10 locations (new sites added from last year).
13 indoor seminars and workshops. Author Lyanda Haupt discusses insights from Darwin’s Lost Notebooks on Galapagos Birds.
