Many spots in this especially rugged area are like little pockets of beaches that seem to pop up like sandy surprises between the enormous, craggy rock slabs. It's all a little reminiscent of those strange, African beaches in the final episodes of "The X-Files." You half-expect to find a UFO hidden in the sand someplace.
