Oregon Coast Lodging Getting Scarce with Impending Heatwave

Respite from the heat will be found in Newport this week

(Oregon Coast) - It's the first big, nasty heatwave of the summer season, and it seems it has valley residents fleeing to the coast like rats from a sinking ship. Most lodgings are reporting being full – or getting full fast, with a flood of calls coming in increasing numbers, as weather reports touting 90-plus degrees for the weekend start to sink in.

The National Weather Service said inland temps will reach into the upper 90's on Friday, continuing through the weekend, possibly extending into next week. "Even the coast should see some unusually warm weather, with temperatures into the 80’s Friday and possibly even on Saturday," said the NWS in a bulletin.

For those looking for places to stay, Seaside is still reporting a decent abundance, while many vacation rentals still have openings. The majority of the lodgings on the upper half of the Oregon are reporting being full, or they’re expecting to be full soon.
