Oregon Coast Calendar: Newport Events, May - August

Newport's Nye Beach

(Newport, Oregon) – The central Oregon coast town of Newport is often the center of amusement and fun, and this summer and spring will be no different. There’s something for just about every taste: jazz, dance, classical, food, art and science events and more dot the landscape of this seaside resort. There’s even an early heads-up on Independence day fun in Newport and Depoe Bay.

The new "In Search of Giant Squid" exhibit will feature an actual giant squid beak and suckers, examples of squid prey, squid eggs, and other parts of a squid. Planned interactive components allow visitors to compare their size to that of a giant squid. Compelling graphics, evocative text and a captivating video presentation are included in this extraordinary Smithsonian exhibit! 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. Oregon Coast Aquarium. 2820 SE Ferry Slip Rd.
