The headlands guarding what is called Chapman Point - seen at a chilly dusk in spring in the second-to-top photo.

Behind Chapman Point lies secretive Crescent Beach.

HOW TO GET TO CHAPMAN POINT: Take 5th St. from Les Shirley Park, then to N Laurel St and look for W 7th. Take that to the end and find the parking area and restrooms. The northernmost access of Cannon Beach lies there.

To get to Crescent Beach: you'll have to park somewhere in this area and hike up Ecola State Park Rd., then take the pathway down to Crescent Beach. It's about a mile-and-a-half hike.
