(Oceanside, Oregon) – Near the rather secret village of Oceanside lays yet another, even more secret village called Cape Meares, which – no surprise – sits beneath the gaze of the cape called Cape Meares and its lighthouse. But next to Cape Meares is a village so secret it no longer exists, along the Bayocean Spit. The spit was named for the resort town which once occupied the place, and now only dunes and a sandy shoreline sit in its place. More than a dozen miles of road once comprised Bayocean, along with hundreds of tourists visiting for a few of its mere handful of years of existence. This beach was explored fairly thoroughly back in 2005, as Oregon Coast Beach Connection staff looked for any remnant of the town. None was found.
