Seaside Promenade - Historical Attraction

Once again, history takes the front seat on your journey through Seaside. The Promenade was built in the '20s, first as a wooden construct, then made of concrete. These days, it stretches a little more than a mile and a half, taking you past beautiful motel fronts and charming beach cottages - many of them quite old.

One of the interesting aspects of the Seaside Promenade is that it hasn't needed any major repairs in its over 100-year existence. City officials told Oregon Coast Beach Connection no sizable chunk of it has ever been replaced.

Believe it or not, just before the Promenade was turned from a wooden construct to a cement one, there was a pier here. In the very early 1900s, locals thought that would be a cool idea. Oregon coast storms, of course, had other ideas.

The Prom has even influenced rock 'n roll history in an indirect way.
