Oregon Coast Lodging Scarce Over Big Events Weekend

(Newport, Oregon) – Between Newport’s Seafood and Wine Festival, the massive Birding and Blues Festival in Pacific City, and the Dixieland Festival in Seaside, many cities on the coast will be maxed out for lodging availability.
With the Seafood and Wine Festival regularly bringing 17,000 more people to the central coast than usual, most rooms in Newport have already been booked. This causes a spillover into other nearby towns, such as Yachats and Waldport to the south, and Depoe Bay and Lincoln City to the north.
Lincoln City gets a double dose of visitors because of the Birding & Blues Festival in Pacific City. That town only has a small amount of rooms and rentals available, so those visitors will be staying in nearby Oceanside as well as Lincoln City – even though it’s about 20 minutes to the south.

Then, on the north coast, the Dixieland Festival packs out the lodgings in Seaside, with substantial spillover to Cannon Beach and Arch Cape. Some is expected in the Manzanita area as well.
This is one exciting weekend you don’t want to miss on the Oregon coast, for a number of reasons beyond the festivals. Beachcombing is at all-time record for interesting finds (just as the family that found two historic objects near Cannon Beach this past weekend). Many of the beaches have been substantially scoured of sand, revealing all sorts of interesting oddities.

So for those heading to the beaches, lodging may be at a premium, depending on where you’re heading. BeachConnection.net contacted hundreds of lodgings and vacation rentals from Yachats to Gearhart (about 130 miles of coastline), and discovered most have been booked up or expect to be. But a fair amount contacted us with availability.
There are even some still left in prime spots like Pacific City and Seaside, but just a couple left in Depoe Bay and Newport. For those heading to the Seafood and Wine Festival, Waldport and Yachats will the towns with more lodgings that are closer to the festival.
