Oregon Coast Thanksgiving Travel: Weather, Rentals and Restaurants

(Oregon Coast) – It's a favorite among among those stuffing their faces with turkey, as many family traditions involve heading to the beaches for Thanksgiving.

But with a recent cold spell and some hazardous conditions in the coast range, many will be relieved to find out it will be smooth sailing to the coast and back, as routes like Highway 26, Highway 18 or Highway 126 will be clear of snow and goofy conditions.

It should, however, be quite a pleasantly scenic ride, with some snow visible on the trees and nearby hills as you head over the higher elevations. But the roads will be clear.

For the coast, there will be no more snow.

Wednesday will be partly cloudy with a high of 39.

Thursday – Thanksgiving – will be cloudy with highs in the 40’s and lows in the low 40’s.

Highway 26 is clear, and you may still see some scenic snow on the hills

Friday look for rain and temps in the 50’s.

Saturday calls for showers and temps in the upper 40’s.

Sunday looks to be somewhat sunny with highs in the upper 40’s and lows in the upper 30’s.

In the coast range and highways to and from the coast, things will go back to normal rainy winter weather, although it will be colder in the higher elevations than the foothills. Wednesday calls for cloudy skies and highs around 34.

Lows on Wednesday night will get near 29 degrees in the higher passes, which could mean frozen spots on the road. So keep to traveling in the daylight.

Thursday sees things warm up again in the coast range. Highs in the low 40’s and lows in the upper 30’s.

Cape Kiwanda: Pacific City is a favorite place for families to gather for the holiday

For Friday, the temperature range will be the same but with a chance of showers, which will keep any icy spots away.

Saturday and Sunday will again feature highs in the 40’s and lows in the 30’s, with some rain and moments of sun.

Oregon Coast Restaurants on Thanksgiving

For Oregon coast restaurants open on Thanksgiving, there are a handful of them, for those who don’t want to cook. There is a large list of Oregon coast restaurants at this link, although not all are guaranteed to be open for the holiday. Adobe Restaurant in Yachats and Fathoms Restaurant at Lincoln City’s Inn at Spanish Head are open for the holiday. Call to double check with the others on the Oregon Coast Restaurant list ahead of time.
