Oregon Coast Travel Tips: Rooms for Newport Seafood Wine Fest

(Newport, Oregon) – The Newport Seafood and Wine Festival is the biggie on the coast and happens February 25 – 27. Normally, the town swells with an extra 17,000 people over this weekend of vino, tasty grub and a fun-filled party atmosphere, but last year they hit a record with over 19,000 visitors (above: Trollers Lodge in Depoe Bay, 14 miles from Newport).

This means rooms have already been booked in Newport. But Oregon Coast BeachConnection.net has found a handful in town, and in places nearby.

The festival is also a major DUI-o-rama for local police, as plenty who hit the event still insist on drinking and driving. Even if you’re staying in a town other than Newport (which you’ll likely have to do by now), there are shuttles to and from the event – which are included at the end of this article.

Newport may well already be booked up completely. As far back as late January there were frequent complaints it was impossible to find lodging in this central Oregon coast town. Rooms are rare now. Some, however, have reported some availability – although this will change very quickly.

Lincoln City often comes very close to selling out over this huge weekend, or at the very least it becomes extremely hard to find a place because most are booked, and many visitors don’t know where to go to find the openings.
