Summer Sake Tasting and Blues on N. Oregon
Coast
 |
| Dragonfire's Inspired! Cafe - a haven of eclectic art
and arty furnishings and food |
(Cannon Beach, Oregon) - Inspired!
Café, inside Dragonfire Gallery of Cannon Beach, is continuing
its Summer Sake’ Tasting series on various Saturdays throughout
the summer. Look for them June 28, July 26, August 16 and September 20,
all from 2 to 5 p.m.
The line of premium Oregon sakes’ featured in Inspired!
are all brewed with local spring water. The creative staff of the café
create all manner of inspired saketinis, blending the pure sake’
with house teas, fruit syrups, chocolate - even coffee. The house specialty
is ginger lemon saketini, but new creations are concocted all the time.
Each of these tastings features live blues music to add
to the groove. Bands to be announced.
All elements of these and other drinks are organic, like
teas and coffees. The sakes are brewed with Oregon water. Their coffees
are also shade grown and free trade, and Inspired! utilizes locally grown,
organic fruit for their smoothies and other creations.
DragonFire
also has something else very unique going on in its Earth-friendly approach:
their cups are particularly eco-friendly, all made of a biodegradable
form of corn. They look like regular plastic cups, however. It’s
a bit of “Star Trek” technology in an art gallery/café.
Long
considered the domain of Japan, where it is said to be the drink of the
Gods, sake’ is enjoying discovery in this country. The Northwest
in particular has become a center for sake brewing. The high quality of
Oregon water has proved essential for making premium sake. Mix this water
with rice and yeast and it develops into a subtly poetic elixir of many
layers.
For the tasting, Inspired! Café will feature the
premium line of sake’s produced by Sake’ One of Oregon.
These sake’s benefit from being served chilled, making
them a perfect summertime drink.

Add some interesting mixers and you have a saketini. Can’t
live without your iced chai? Consider trying one infused with plum sake’.
Raspberry sake on its own is delicious; paired with chocolate, milk and
whipped cream it becomes an adult milkshake that borders on sublime.
DragonFire Gallery and Inspired! Café can
be found at the corner of 1st and Hemlock streets in Cannon Beach. The
Gallery features an eclectic collection of art from both regional and
national sources. In addition to offering sake’, Inspired! Café
features a wide array of loose leaf and blooming teas, organic coffee,
regional beer and wine and light food fare. For more information call
(503) 436-1533 or visit the website: DragonFireStudio.com.
